Brest is France's most significant Atlantic naval port and a major hub for offshore, fishing, and maritime industry. When casualties or incidents occur on the Finistère coast or in the approaches, we can be mobilised from Nantes 24/7 for full on-site survey coverage.

The Port

Port of Brest & the Iroise Sea

The Port of Brest handles a diverse mix of naval, commercial, and offshore traffic. The Rade de Brest and the outer Iroise Sea lie at the convergence of major shipping routes between the English Channel and the Atlantic, generating some of the highest casualty frequency in Western Europe. Key activities include naval and defence, offshore wind and energy supply vessels, deep-sea fishing, and general commercial cargo. The port also acts as a base for tug and salvage operators serving the Western Approaches. Brest is home to Damen Shiprepair Brest, the largest shiprepair yard on the French Atlantic coast, equipped with three drydocks — the largest measuring 420 × 80 m, one of the biggest in Europe — together with repair quays and ample craneage.
