Port of Bayonne & the Adour Basin
The Port of Bayonne handles bulk dry cargo (cereals, fertilisers, wood pellets), agri-food products, and containers. Key terminals include Tarnos (bulk, petrochemicals), Bayonne-centre (agri-food), and the fishing port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz nearby. The Adour estuary presents tidal and sandbar challenges that require attention during cargo operations and vessel movements. The Franco-Spanish border location also means that vessels regularly operating between Bayonne and Bilbao require survey coverage across both jurisdictions.
